The first photograph shows myself with my first entry painting, titled 'Sunday Morning ABP Marathon. Northam, Southampton. The location is the main road running through Northam, on the east side of the city during the 2016 running marathon, sponsored by Associated British Ports, a major employer in the city. I was always fascinated by the large gasometer which dominates this area, and this event gave me a good excuse to put it down in paint.
The second painting is titled 'Sunday Morning Rowing At Itchen Bridge, Southampton'. It shows a typical Sunday morning at the BTC Rowing club, situated next to the Itchen Bridge, with new members being trained in to knowing how to be safe on the water. It was based on a number of photos I took during the morning for reference.
The two paintings can be seen clearly via these links.

Cow Line Up In Field - acrylic paintingThis painting shows a line up of 4 cows sitting in a field in the countryside. It is based on a photograph which had four cows lined up, but I decided to recompose them by moving them together by a small amount as they were too widely spaced out.The original location was a field I spotted whist on a trip to Lyndhurst in the New Forest, Hampshire. I do not believed it rained any time after!
The painting measures 16” x 12” and is done on paper using acrylic paint during July 2016.

New Forest hill with cows and horses
This painting shows a summer scene in the New Forest, Hampshire, with a hill dominating the composition. At the base of the hill can be seen a pair of cows sitting and relaxing in the sun. Up the hill on a path that winds up to the top stand a small group of horses. Unfortunately the name of the hill is unknown.
The painting is done in acrylics on a stretched canvas measuring 16” x 20”, during June 2016.

Ducks on Dockside WIPThis photograph shows the progress on a painting featuring a number of Mallard ducks standing on a quay in Christchurch, Dorset. The area is in reality a pretty little quay along the River Stour that flows through the town but this is a very small 'industrial' area within the quay that deals with the mooring of tourist boats, etc. The first panel shows the basic line drawing done in brown acrylic over an orange base colour. The following panel now shows the basic under painting in place, usually painted at darker tones on purpose to give the finished painting layer something to work against. The final panel shows the finished artwork.
The painting is done in acrylics on paper measuring 16" x 12".
The final finished painting can be seen clearly here.
