Plein air painting 124

Plein air painting 124

One Sunday morning (21st April) was spent standing in Houndwell park, looking across to a number of large cranes being used in conjunction with the Bargate development, having been stalled until recently. It was a sunny morning and Palmerston road is seen cutting across the composition. On the left behind the large trees is the vacated Debenhams departmental store.
Painted on cardboard sized at 12 x 9.5", in oils.

Plein air painting 123 14 april

Plein air painting 123

On Sunday 14th April 2024 a classic car event was staged at the city wall, Southampton. It was named the 'Lord Mayors classic car display' and was for charitable causes. This view shows an Austin open road tourer from 1929. Behind is a Rolls Royce, ex- royal family.
The painting was done in oils on mounting board, sized at 12 x 9.5". It took longer than expected because of a high number of passers by taking an interest.

wood mill southampton architecture art

Painted during an Urban Sketchers meet up on a Saturday 4th May 2024, Wood Mill is depicted situated along the River Itchen, on the outskirts of Southampton. The mill dates from 1825 (replacing an earlier one) and was in use until 1954, and then becoming a leisure location for water sport since the 1960's. Its a very popular place to be painted and photographed. However this was the first time for me working on this subject matter.
Painted on cardboard in oils, sized at 12 x 9.5".
