Man in his interesting shed - WIP stages
Created during the last month or so of 2021 this painting shows a man sitting in his garden shed, modified at a living space with comfortable armchairs and a wood burner for winter evenings. Many interesting knick-knacks are displayed on the walls.
The picture above shows WIP stages of the artwork. In the first panel can be see the drawing, done in brown acrylic paint on a brown wash. After this some colour is added in the form of underpainting, which is basically a foundation layer for future layers added later. This foundation layer has been done in acrylics, painted thinly (rather than oils), something not normally done but time was restricted. Moving on to the third (bottom left) panel oil paint has been added to some sections. This layer is painted with thicker paint and to the correct colour and tonal values required. Finally the last panel shows the completed painting. It is sized at 33” x23” and painted on primed mounting board.
By following this link the artwork can be seen in greater detail.
