Alice and the nasty head tree - digital illustration

A young girl called Alice in a fantasy world of her creation, is meeting a 'nasty head tree' monster.

This encounter takes place in a wicked old forest full of twisted, dead trees. The tree in question is able to move about and hangs on its branches, heads of past victims. The tree has a face of sorts. Out of its mouth protrudes a long tongue, used to grab its victims. Alice has so far resisted the efforts of the tree during this terrifying encounter.

Head painting exercise - 'Carnival Row'

Carnival row is a fantasy series from Amazon. First season aired in 2019 with the second and final season appearing in 2023. The series takes place in a landscape populated by humans and mythological beings, 
Shown here are (top left) Rycroft "Philo" Philostrate, (top right) Vignette Stonemoss, (bottom left) Agreus Astrayon, (bottom right) Tourmaline Larou.
Each one is painted on cardboard (12 x 9.5") in oils during spring 2024.

Plein air painting 126

Following on from the previous post the subject is again Woodmill, situated in outer Southampton along the banks of the River Itchen. Having never painted it for many years I now found myself painting it again only a few days later on the 7th May 2024, as part of a Southampton Art Society paint out.
Done in oils on mounting board cut to 12 x 9.5".
