Cow Line Up In Field - acrylic painting

This painting shows a line up of 4 cows sitting in a field in the countryside. It is based on a photograph which had four cows lined up, but I decided to recompose them by moving them together by a small amount as they were too widely spaced out.The original location was a field I spotted whist on a trip to Lyndhurst in the New Forest, Hampshire. I do not believed it rained any time after!
The painting measures 16” x 12” and is done on paper using acrylic paint during July 2016.

This photograph made up of three panels shows work on a painting showing four cows sitting down in a field in the New Forest. The first panel shows a red (although orange in reality) ground with the drawing done in brown acrylic paint. The second panel shows a number of base colours put down while the final panel shows the finished painting, which is done in acrylics on paper, and measures 16" x 12".

Southampton Riverside park oak tree with cyclist

 

This is painted in Oils on a 16" x 20" canvas. The subject is Riverside Park, on the outskirts of Southampton, Hampshire,UK. A very large,old Oak tree can be seen beside the River Itchen. A cycle lane runes along the river bank and a cyclist can be seen resting on a bench, his bicycle resting against the tree. It is late afternoon and the light within the scene in soft and golden. The area is popular with canoeists and yachtsmen using the water, and families and friends walking through the park or fishing from the banks of the River Itchen. I was drawn to the interesting form of the Oak tree and the way the evening light was creating a silhouette of it. Painted in late 2012. Southampton Riverside park oak tree with cyclist
