Plein art painting 11

tree trucks by path southampton common art
Plein air painting of tree trucks by path.

Painted on a sunny September morning this plein air sketch shows tree trunks beside a tarmac path running through a part of Southampton common, Hampshire. Plenty of people were passing on their way to work and school but most probably did not notice me hidden on the opposite side of the path, hidden in the shade. The painting is 12" x 9" and done in oils over a 2 hr period. It is on a light brown coloured ground.

Romantic Snails On A Date

garden snail romance paintingSNAILS IN LOVELink

Snails in love is an early image of mine, painted about 2006. I was very much in to gardening at the time, and liked to grow 'hosta' plants, featured here in the background.

from the website...
Two romantic snails are seen on a date in the undergrowth in this digital illustration. They have early 20th century hats on, but no other clothing. The undergrowth is made up of 'Hosta' plants, favorites of snails and slugs.

Painted in 2007.
