Romantic Skeletons Drawing vs Painting ART

Romantic Skeletons Drawing vs Painting ART

finished art vs sketch M P davey horror skeletons
rough drawing vs finished art 'Romantic skeletons'
This drawing vs finished art comparison shows a rough drawing compared to finished artwork. The actual art is called 'Romantic Valentine Skeletons in Graveyard' and was completed in January 2014. The first panel shows the rough drawing completed. It is lacking in any detail as can be seen. The finished art was done digitally by painting in Photoshop, but there was no detailed drawing produced on this occasion. Instead the painting was drawn and designed as I went ahead with it, deciding on the details, lighting and colours as I went along. What is consistent however is the position of all the elements based on the drawing, which remain fixed within the composition.
The final art can be seen in detail here.

Romantic White Rabbits with Heart

Romantic White Rabbits with Heart

Two cartoon romantic rabbits in love set against a heart design.
The image was largely created in photoshop, although the hearts came from an earlier, vector based illustration of Dinosaurs in love.

Romantic Cartoon cats on Valentine Heart

Romantic Cartoon cats on Valentine Heart

This design of a card for St Valentines day features two cartoon romantic cats in love set against a heart design. The cats were painted in photoshop from an illustration created several years ago and the heart background form an illustrator vector illustration created in 2013. They were simply composited in photoshop.

Romantic Valentine Skeletons in Graveyard

Romantic Valentine Skeletons in Graveyard

This illustration was painted in photoshop in Jan 2014. It shows two skeletons in love on st Valentines day night in a graveyard. The male skeleton is presenting his beloved with a bouquet of flowers, for which the female is extremely happy. The design of the skeletons are slightly cartoony to make them more appealing and easier to draw. The colours of the scene are quite muted, but the flowers less so. The diagonal of the males arm with the flowers thrusting in to the scene, is balanced out in the composition with the diagonal of the landscape with church in the opposite direction.

Romantic Dinosaurs in Love

Romantic Dinosaurs in Love

This digital illustration, of two happy and romantic dinosaurs in love, was created in June 2013. It is drawn in a vector based programme, and output at A3 size. The two cartoon dinosaurs, not based on any particular type, are shown against a large pink heart, surrounded by smaller ones. The colours of the lovers are designed to be gender specific, and appealing, and the cuddling pose shows their passion for one another.

Two Romantic cats....for St Valentine's Day

two_romantic_cats_for_st valentine_love

two_romantic_cats_for_st_valentineTwo Romantic cats in love, by a tree.

This is obviously created for st Valentines Day.
The colour version was painted first, in photoshop to a A4 size in january 2011. I was quite pleased about the way it turned out, and looks quite cute. I think that the bows do add a lot to the cuteness and help to define the two sexes.
The black and white image was done about two weeks later. It has been done for presentation at a local arts society and needed to be B/W, with no grey tones, for easy reproduction in the news letter. It is a tracing, in photoshop again A4, of the colour image, and has come out quite well and still retains the character of the cats.

from the website...
Two romantic cats are shown in this digital illustration, sitting together by a tree. It always seems appropriate to portray a male cat as black and white in colour, and a female one as white. The coloured bows help with their sweetness and their sex identification. I wanted to have a soft feeling through the painting so it is set in the evening light.
This was painted in photoshop in 2011.

cat romance in garden

cat_romance_gardencat romance in garden

This was painted in august 2010, in photoshop. I always think of cats being black and white in colour, because I suppose of the family cat in the previous post! On reflection I suppose the white, disinterested, female cat should not have been against a white wall. I am pleased with the distant,'blue' house.

from the website...
Two cats are seen in this illustration, of a romantic meeting between the two. The white female cat is on the wall looking down at the other in a superior manner. The black and white cat is looking for some attention.
Painted in 2010.

Romantic Snails On A Date

garden snail romance paintingSNAILS IN LOVELink

Snails in love is an early image of mine, painted about 2006. I was very much in to gardening at the time, and liked to grow 'hosta' plants, featured here in the background.

from the website...
Two romantic snails are seen on a date in the undergrowth in this digital illustration. They have early 20th century hats on, but no other clothing. The undergrowth is made up of 'Hosta' plants, favorites of snails and slugs.

Painted in 2007.

Romantic Victorian Pigs In Snowy Street

ROMANTIC VICTORIAN PIGS

This is one of my favorite images completed in november 2008. it is painted A4 size at300 ppi, and took about 2 1/2 days. I had the idea while watching "little dorrit" , the BBC1 dickens adaptation. I thought it would be nice to paint some victorian clothes, and snow covered 'xmas' buildings. in fact this image did end up being my xmas card for that year. I was also influenced by the 'quality street' tin design, used here in the UK.I am overall pleased with the colour, composition and standard of painting.

from website...
This was painted in 2008 to A4 size in photoshop. It could be counted as a christmas scene or a winter scene, but this victorian pig romance illustration was inspired by christmas cards and victorian plays on the television. It was nice to do some research in to victorian costumes and the red army uniform helps to add a focal point. The snow was fun to do, and means less painting. The cartoon pigs add charm and are an unlikely romantic couple. Art Prints
