This is the Blog of artwork by Martin Davey. The artwork is a mixture of digital illustrations created in Photoshop, and paintings created on canvas using oil and acrylic paint media. The entries give some idea of the dates of completion, and influences and inspirations if any. The work is not listed in any particular order or time frame though generally the more recent work is at the start of the blog. alice with humpty on wall
Alice in Wonderland is the inspiration for this illustration. It is painted in photoshop to a 8" x 10" format. It features an angry Alice and a nutty Humpty Dumpty, sitting on his wall. In the background is the wall to the palace gardens. The perspective is quite stylised and twisted. The palace wall in the background follows the contour of the hill, impossibly. The tree has stylised branches, populated by equally strange leaves. I still wanted the main characters to look realistic and solid, and not too stylised. Painted in march 2009.
