Hanzel and Gretal with evil witch
I like to try to pick strange angles and force the perspective sometimes in images. It is a cheat as this image shows, but the drama is better for it. The figures are 'flatter' and in a different perspective plane than the room! If I could draw figures better this would not happen. Painted in photoshop march 2010.from the website...
This digital painting illustrates a scene from the story of Hanzel and Gretel, when they are in the witches kitchen and she is trying to win them over with sweets. The children are looking worried.
It is painted from a low angle, at the childrens eyeline height , to add drama and show the kitchen to be an enclosed and menacing environment. The sky is stormy outside and the interior is mostly lit by the fire. I enjoyed painting the light coming through the sweet lollys!
