This is the Blog of artwork by Martin Davey. The artwork is a mixture of digital illustrations created in Photoshop, and paintings created on canvas using oil and acrylic paint media. The entries give some idea of the dates of completion, and influences and inspirations if any. The work is not listed in any particular order or time frame though generally the more recent work is at the start of the blog. My two main websites are www.martindaveyfineart.co.uk, and www.martindaveyillustration.co.uk.

Sea Water and Rocks - oil painting stages WIP
Sea Water and Rocks - oil painting stages WIP
This composite photograph shows three stages of a painting featuring rocks on a sandy beach and where they meet the sea water. The first panel shows a rough sketch drawn in brown acrylic paint on an orange ground wash. In the second panel basic under-painting, using acrylics, has been added which acts as a guide to the following layer. These colours are usually a bit darker than the intended final colours and there is a lack of detail at this stage. The final panel shows the finish painting. At this stage the painting is done in oil paint with all of the details added. The painting is 20" x 16" and is done on paper.
