This is the Blog of artwork by Martin Davey. The artwork is a mixture of digital illustrations created in Photoshop, and paintings created on canvas using oil and acrylic paint media. The entries give some idea of the dates of completion, and influences and inspirations if any. The work is not listed in any particular order or time frame though generally the more recent work is at the start of the blog. My two main websites are www.martindaveyfineart.co.uk, and www.martindaveyillustration.co.uk.

Painted in September 2020 this view shows Bugle Street in the Southampton 'Old town'. Looking south, the docks/ Town Quay area can be seen at the end of the road. This road is very old and right next to the location of where this painting was created is Tudor House, a museum housed in a large building from that very era.

This image show a progression of a painting of Tudor House, Southampton, in the county of Hampshire, UK. It is a grade 1 listed building in the 'old town' of the city. The oldest parts of the main building are from the 1400's, though an earlier Norman building as ruins can be seen connected to the main structure. Tudor House has had many changes over the centuries in terms of use and buildings added. The current version is the Edwardian version of what a Tudor house should look like, when it became Southampton museum in 1912. The building was closed between 2002- 2011 where it was extensively restored to preserve it for centuries to come.![]() |
