Dinosaur Mother in chair after Whistler - WIP stages

Dinosaur Mother in chair after Whistler  - WIP stages

Whistlers mother dinosaur illustration in stages.
3 stages of the 'Whistler' dino illustration

Created in early January 2021 this humorous take on a famous Victorian painting was digitally painted using 'Auto Sketchbook Pro'. The original that it was based on is called “Arrangement in Grey and Black, No. 1: Portrait of the Artist’s Mother”, thought sometimes it is more simply known as “Whistler's Mother”.

The first image above shows the rough drawing of the composition. The document is quite small at this size, approx 1000px x 1000px. Moving to the second image the drawing has now had colour painted in, based on the original Whistler painting used for reference. The final image shows the completed illustration which has been enlarged to 5000px x 5000px and then repainted to give a finer, finished piece of artwork.

The completed dinosaur illustration can be seen in detail by following this link.

James Abbott McNeill Whistler's famous painting from 1871 is taken and given a slight twist placing it in an alternate dinosaur world! This digital illustration was done in early January 2021 and shows an armoured plated dinosaur, similar to a Stegosaurus replacing the original subject of the painting, the mother of Whistler. It is sized at 5000px x 5000px and painted using Auto Sketchbook Pro. This artwork can be viewed in greater detail by following this link.

Dinosaur And Son With A Parasol - digital illustration

Dinosaur And Son With A Parasol - digital illustration

digital illustration - Dinosaur And Son With A Parasol
Created during October 2018, this digital illustration features a 'take' of the famous painting by Monet, 'Woman with a Parasol/ Madame Monet and Her Son'. It is also known as 'The Stroll' and was painted in 1875. My version does not feature humans but a Tyrannosaurs Rex and dinosaur son, out for a stroll in summer in the same field. It is painted in 'Auto Sketchbook Pro', initially using an android tablet, and then later exporting the file to a desktop computer running the same painting software to produce a final version. Some time was spent studying the original painting to create similar brushmarks and use of colour and light, as painted originally by Monet.

The digital illustration can be seen here in detail.

Lepe Beach Windy Winter Day - acrylic painting

Lepe Beach Windy Winter Day - acrylic painting

winter day Lepe Hampshire beach acrylic art
Lepe Beach Windy Winter Day - acrylic painting
This acrylic painting was created during December 2016 just before Christmas. It is painted on paper sized at 16” x 12”. Shown is a scene on a cold, winters day at Lepe, an area of coastline on the South of England in the county of Hampshire. A mother and daughter can be seen on the seashore, a 'castle' shaped bucket to the side. On the sea can be seen a man on a water-ski being propelled by a kite. In the far distance past the active, wavy sea, can be seen the Isle of Wight.
The painting can be seen in close up here.

cow and calf in field

cow_and_calf_in_fieldcow and calf in field

This is an oil painting that measures 16"x16". It was painted in early november 2010, from a photograph taken a few weeks previously. The photo was heavily cropped to get this composition as a starting point. The original picture was taken at Throop, a countryside area on the outskirts of bournemouth,UK. I hope to produce more paintings of this pretty area in the future.

from the website...
This oil painting of a cow and calf are shown depicted sitting in a field at Throop, which is an outer part of the suburbs of Bournemouth, UK. It is based on a photograph taken on a slightly frosty morning. I don't usually paint in a square format but happened to have seen the blank canvas at a good price at a shop, and purchased it to use at a later date. The square format adds to an unusual composition. The painting of the cow was quite successful and surprisingly not to taxing to do. It is painted in oils on a 16" x 16" canvas.

Mother And Son In Garden

garden,flowers,family,domestic,mother,son,mothersday

MUM AND SON IN GARDEN

This is painted at a size of 4x5 inches,so is smaller than usual. It is painted in a stylized way with a heavy
'wide angle',and the treatment of the faces is particularly stylized. The perspective is very forced and cheated for impact.

from the website...
A mother is seen outside her family home with her son, by the front gate. The digital illustration features stylized characters and elements. The perspective is heavilly distorted to show the figures in relation to their environment.
