Two boat wrecks at low tide - acrylic painting

Two boat wrecks at low tide

Many wrecks of old boats and yachts can be found at Northam, Southampton, where the River Itchen runs through up towards Winchester. The river is tidal and at low tide many wrecks are uncovered and others that still float rest on the mudflats. This small acrylic painting (12” x 10”) shows two floating wrecks resting on the mud. I suspect however that the larger one is not abandoned but has someone living on it! Painted in September 2014.

Old boats moored at St Denys Southampton

Old boats moored at St Denys Southampton

This painting of old boats moored up at St Denys was painted in April in 2014. They are on the River Itchen which flows through the area from Southampton Water. In the background can be seen the backs of houses on priory Road. The painting is done in Acrylics on a canvas board sized at 10” x 12”.
