Princess in castle with happy birds - WIP stages

A flock of happy birds are playing with a yellow dressed princess in her castle.
This digital illustration was created during mid May 2021 and the picture above demonstrates three stages of the creation of it. In the first panel can be seen the drawing. This was done using Sketchbook pro software running on a tablet with the image being 1200px along the longest edge. The second panel now shows the same drawing painted, with basic colours and tonal qualities indicated using basic brushes. After this stage the file is exported to a desktop W10 computer running the same software. The artwork is enlarged up to 6000px on the longest edge and then it is re-painted in a more refined manor  so that a high quality, printable illustration can be reproduced, with the final panel showing the finished princess illustration. In this fairy-tale like illustration, a princess wearing a long yellow dress is seen happily interacting with friendly white birds through a window open in a castle corridor.
Painted in May 2021 using 'Auto Sketchbook Pro' software, initially on a tablet and then exported to a W10 desktop computer. The finished result can be seen via this external link.

Fishing Boat At Mudeford Quay - oil painting

In this painting can be seen a scene of some local fishermen chatting after working and off loading a catch on a hot summers day in august. Seagulls continue to circulate on the off chance of finding some of the catch left over.

The location is the quay at Mudeford, along Christchurch Bay, Dorset on the south coast of the UK. The Haven Inn is one of the small, listed buildings in this quay.

In the distance can be seen the town of Christchurch, across the bay. The painting measures 28” x 20” and is painted in oils on smooth mounting board.

This painting shows a number of Mallard ducks standing on a dockside. The location is Christchurch, a pretty town in Dorset with two rivers flowing through it. Shown is a section of the quay that looks like a heavy industrial area from the small section shown, but is in reality just a small part of the boatyard on the quay, which is very popular with the tourists. The artwork is painted in acrylics on stretched paper sized at 16” x 12”, during July 2016.

Feeding the Ducks at Southampton Common

This painting show the duck pond, known as Cemetery Lake, at Southampton Common, near to the Cemetery. The time of the year is late autumn and a young family can be seen feeding the ducks at the pond during a late afternoon. Seagulls and other birds are are also spotted here.

The painting was created in oils using a 'wet into wet' technique, and is sized at 16”x 20”. It was painted during late 2013.

Boat wreck with sea birds

This was completed in mid July and is painted on a canvas 20" x16" in oils. The boat wreck was situated on the river Itchen, southampton. I was attracted to the textures on the boat, the flaking paint and the rotten wood and the reflection in the water. The birds were added to the composition, though are typical of the wildlife in the local area.

This boat wreck is on the River Itchen, which starts in Southampton. I was drawn to the interesting textures on the boat, the pealing paint and the algae gradually taking over the surface of the hull when choosing this subject for a painting. It is based on a photograph and I added the birds in from other pictures I took in the same area on the same day, using photoshop to create a final master drawing/ layout. I think that the textures do come across well through the use of oil paint and the sea birds add interest to the scene, the water reflections finishing off the painting quite successfully. The artwork was completed in 2011.
